Woodstock
Woodstock lies on the lower slopes of Overlook Mountain inside the Catskill Park, an arts colony since the Byrdcliffe founders arrived in 1902 and the Maverick's summer chamber concerts began in 1916. Tinker Street and the village green carry the galleries, bookshops and the natural-foods market; Kingston, with the nearest emergency room and full supermarkets, is about twelve miles east.
