Saugerties
Saugerties sits where the Esopus Creek meets the Hudson, a village that grew from a 1650s sawmill into a nineteenth-century mill town and kept a business district listed on the National Register. A nature trail through the creek-mouth marsh leads to the 1869 lighthouse, now a two-room bed and breakfast run by a local conservancy, with the Catskills standing to the west.
