The ritual

At 6 p.m. on a summer Friday, Copake Lake Boat & Ski shifts from marina to meeting place. A food truck pulls in, the stage lights come up and neighbors, weekenders and boaters settle into an evening that feels more like a standing invitation than a programmed event.

Make an afternoon of it

The marina also rents pontoon boats, kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddleboards. A simple plan is to reserve time on the water, come back before the evening crowd and let dinner and music carry the day into night.
